The kitchen cart is not only a workspace for in the
kitchen. The cart is very handy in the dining room
when serving a feast to a large gathering of friends
or family. With the kitchen cart acting as a sideboard,
you will even have room for uncle Joe at the table.
The fact that the cart is out and useful when needed
and out of sight and out of the way when not required
makes it a most wonderful addition to your kitchen
furniture. Keeping in mind the basic décor you
attempting to achieve in your kitchen, you have many
different units to choose from.

You can have a custom designed work cart the likes
of which you have always dreamed of for your
kitchen. Carts come in basically two styles, open or
closed. Both carts feature cabinets with storage
shelves. The closed style has doors to protect and
contain that which is stored on the shelves, while the
open style will have four posts holding the shelves
and working surface. Some units have attached
condiment caddy and maybe a towel bar. All kitchen
carts have casters. Two of these casters should
have locking brakes so that the cart will stay where it
belongs as you work on its top surface. Tops are
available in sleek looking stainless steel, natural
hardwood, solid granite or marble. The hardwood
and stainless steel topped units may have a leaf that
folds down to be out of the way or up level to give
you double the working space.

There are even inexpensive steel tube framed units
starting at less than $100. You can get units that are
meant to be convenient storage to be rolled out
beside the counter while you are creating or beside
the dining table so that the condiments will be on
hand.  Then there are the kitchen carts that have a
cutting board built on as well as a spot where you
can place a pot warmer. This allows you to keep the
feature dish nice and hot right up to the moment you
serve it.

The kitchen cart comes by many names like, Utility
Cart, Breakfast Bar, Drop-Leaf Cart with Storage or
Breakfast Cart to name a few. Call them whatever
you wish, they are handy to have around. Shop
around there always some great deals available. The
kitchen cart is a must for any cook.
