Although more commonly found in the bathroom, granite and
marble kitchen sinks really add a sense of elegance to your
home. A stone kitchen sink are usually of a larger design that
makes it both beautiful and functional. Now these stone sinks
are a little pricy but I believe you are making a great
investment. Remember, the kitchen is the one room of your
house where you can see a positive return on funds spent. That
is your resale value usually increases by more than the cost of
a quality kitchen renovation. There are, of course, beautiful
stock stone kitchen sinks but you may wish to have one custom
made to meet your vision of a perfect kitchen. Most designers
will be more than happy to assist you in designing the perfect
sink for your home.

You decide if you want a standard mount design or will your
marble sink be a front mount. Many people prefer the front
mount once they try them. Apron front sinks are easier on your
back because you do not have to reach or bend over the
counter to work in the sink. Solid stone sinks are available in a
wide variety of styles. Stone kitchen sinks are carved from
granite, marble, travertine and limestone. Make your choice
from single or double bowl styles. There are irregularities with
hand carved stone and you can expect small variations in color
and size like areas of superior color and veining all of which
add to the individual personality of the sink. For these reasons
it is a good plan to have your stone kitchen sink on site before
the kitchen finishing so that you can be sure of your final choice
of colors.

Most, if not all, stone sinks are sealed prior to shipping by the
manufacture. It is recommend that the sink is sealed at least
once a year. All you require for everyday cleaning is mild soap
and water using a sponge and then a dry cloth. Should you
happen to use an abrasive cleaner or scouring pad, your stone
sink will require re-sealing after.  There are many manufactures
of stone kitchen sinks as well as matching stone countertops
and most have web sites. Go to these web sites and see what
catches your attention.
